So what started as my family Easter gathering, turned into a fun playdate and eventual photo session with all the cousins in one place. It took some convincing to the parents to meet at a windy cold beach, but they all admitted in the end that it was a great idea. Komen for the Cure® (Let’s do our part in finding the cure for Breast Cancer!).  Mother’s Day is just around the corner, so if you donate $45 and come to Powell’s on Friday, April 30th between 3-6pm, Mali or Noel will give you a beautiful portrait of of your child.

Everyone that attended the workshop was so excited about photography, and not only willing to learn, but so quick to learn all that we threw at them. The best part is the model shoot at the end. It is always fun to see what everyone comes away with. These pictures above are by an attendee, Jennifer. She did a great job capturing the personality of the models we had! Thanks Jennifer!

It is only an hour drive, but it takes you three hours to get from point a (your house) to point b (the snow). You have invested some time in this trip, and you would love a great picture that will remind you of this effort, and the fun you had. So here are a few Anytime Art tips for you.

1. The snow is white and bright. This can be a huge problem in a few ways. You might have too much light coming into your camera, so in compensation, your camera may underexpose the subject. (so you get dark faces) How can you fix this? The two easiest ways to fix this is to either use your flash and fill in the faces of your subjects, or to change your compensation to +. Look at your settings on your camera for how to do it.

2. Snow play is usually a quick moving, action packed time, so it can help to have a quick shutter speed. If you don’t know how to change the shutter speed, look for the action mode on your camera.

We’ve been sooo bad about our Tuesday Tips, so here’s a random tip just for fun.  If you have a child who puts on their stinky attitude every time they see your camera, try to have an older sibling/cousin/friend help out by tickling the little one and running away. The older child feels really good about being the helper and the little one is sure to give you a cute smile. Well, sometimes…. if they are REALLY determined to be a stinker, it may not work, but you still turn out with something cute like this:
